Abortion:

I feel the only time abortion is justified is when the mother's life is in jeopardy. Abortion for birth control needs to be banned. There are too many couples just waiting for a child, that can't have one of their own. It is time for all of us as a nation to take responsibility for our own actions.

Gun Rights/ 2nd Amendment:

The rights of a law abiding citizen to own a gun shall not be infringed. I believe this is a basic American right. A handgun never shot anyone or anything on its own. There is always a person on the other end of the weapon. If it is illegal to shoot someone in the first place, do you think that the criminal EVER thinks about a gun law? Gun restrictions only affect the law abiding citizen negatively. I will work to ensure that the instant check that was promised with earlier gun legislation, is finally put in place, and to ensure that the freedom of gun ownership is restored and protected!

Immigration:

No person should be rewarded for breaking an American law. No amnesty, no special privileges, no "track to citizenship" for law breakers. I will work to remove the "anchor baby" loop hole from current legislation. The power to decide who can be, and who cannot become citizens lies with Congress. Work visas can be issued to those wanting to LEGALLY come to America and work, but first dibs on those jobs shall go to American citizens first. There should be no special perks to those wishing to immigrate to America . One of the provisions in the stalled Immigration Reform bill, was to provide automatic home ownership to workers in the technology sectors of America . No one ever gave me a house, or even a down payment on a house and I am sure that the same is true for you.

Manufacturing/ Jobs:

Manufacturing has been the backbone of America since the Industrial Revolution Manufacturing is the basis of all wealth creation in a free market place. Services only transfer wealth. Manufacturing also pays traditionally higher wages and have benefits such as health care. For every ten manufacturing jobs approximately 100 other full and part time jobs are created in the community. New businesses are created to service the demands of the manufacturing employee such as restaurants, and car care centers. I feel that EVERY dollar the US government spends needs to stay in this country. Going to American businesses employing American workers! Period! Through the various taxes we pay every day, the government gets about 80% of their money spent back in one form of tax or another. That is IF the money stays in the US . If the government buys something from an overseas company, it is all gone, doesn't stimulate the US economy, doesn't build better jobs, and doesn't build better lives for Americans. We need to recapture all of our manufacturing capabilities. We won World War II by out producing our enemies. What would happen to America today if we were put in a similar situation today? I would take us years to ramp up, and reacquire the production skills lost over the last few decades.

Identity Theft

I will work to make the laws tougher on those that steal someone's identity. Perhaps mandatory, minimum sentences for offenders are the answer. This crime is growing at an alarming rate. As or economy slows, the incidence of ID theft will rise. I will also work to enact laws to help the victims of ID theft restore their good name. It should not cost thousands of dollars and countless hours of a victim's time to restore their ID. I will work with the credit reporting bureaus, banking industry leaders, and ID restoration companies to enact legislation to aid the victims of this frustrating crime.

Health Care

Health care is a looming problem for America . As we live longer, and have more stressful lives the demands being put on our health care system are at an all time high. For all of its problems, our health care system is still the best in the world. I see the first step in solving our health care crisis, is in MEANINGFUL tort reform. Malpractice insurance and product liability insurance costs due to the outrageously high awards by the courts are helping to drive the costs of health care up. Limiting these awards will start to help stabilize and maybe lower these insurance premiums and in turn lower the costs of health care. Opening up space in our emergency rooms by removing the illegal alien population that are using our ER's as primary health care providers will help with the strain on our hospitals. We are losing millions of dollars every year to a group of people that are here illegally in the first place, abusing our hospitals and health care systems seeking free health care. We all pay for this with higher hospital costs, and overall health care costs associated with this practice. Reduce the abuse of our system, costs go down.

Cutting edge technology comes with higher prices as well. I will work to ensure that government research funds stay in the United States, to the benefit of all taxpayers, and that the benefits of this research, taxpayer funded, are passed on to all Americans in the form of lower costs.

I feel that universal health care, provided by the government isn't an option. Can you name ONE government program that isn't a complete mess? Social Security? Medicare? The last thing I want is for some bureaucracy to have control over my health care! The government cannot afford to pay for another entitlement program. We can't pay for the programs that we have now, let alone another one that will cost billions every year. I feel that the best solution for health care is, again, to get our good paying manufacturing jobs back here, providing good pay with benefits. Restricting the insurance lobby would be a great idea as well.

Iraq and War on Terror

No matter if you think that we should have went to war in Iraq or not, the fact is, we are there. We have to be victorious in Iraq and Afghanistan . America cannot afford to quit before absolute victory is achieved. I believe in letting our troops do what they do best, and that is winning! They should not ever have to second guess their decision s made in the heat of battle. They are there to protect our freedoms, and to do that they must win. It is our job to support them in this endeavor. As you Senator, I will fight for those that are fighting for us! I will see to it that they all get the VERY BEST in equipment, training, supplies, and medical care if they become wounded. We all must remember, if they are not allowed to be successful, we will all cease to exist. Our precious freedom...GONE. Our safety...GONE. Our way of life...GONE. The last thing I want to have in America , is to see busses and markets blown up by suicide bombers. We can say "Well if..." all day and get nowhere, we must pick up from here and move on to tomorrow. I will fight to see that tomorrow is as bright of a future as you can imagine, with freedom and justice for all. That is my pledge to you, and a VERY SPECIAL "Thank you for your service to my Country" to all veterans. You are my heroes!
